2016 HUSKER Hall of Fame Class
The Husker Hall of Fame has been announced and will be recognized at Saturday's Husker Classic Championship basketball game with a reception to follow on Sunday.
Here is the Husker Hall of Fame Class of 2016 - (4th class to be inducted)

2011 Husker Football Team
Undefeated MRVCE Conf. Champions (First conf. Championship since 1978 for football) - starting a 5 year streak of conf. championships
Overall record of 13-2
13 game winning streak
Took out defending class 3 state champion Richmond in the regular season
Punished Hamilton Penney (ending Penney's long winning streak on a clear, crisp day at Sam Duncan field in the quarterfinals in front of a packed Husker House)
Defeated perennial powerhouse Blair Oaks on the road in the Final Four/State semifinal game
Fell to Lamar in the Dome in St. Louis in the championship - finishing second in Missouri Class 2 football
Several members of this team would go on to compete on the collegiate level
1st Team All State Players were: DeShawn Thirkield (later playing at Central Methodist), Cottry Lewis (Central Iowa CC), Tyrell Thirkield (Basketball at NCMO College/Central Methodist)
2nd Team All State Players were: Blayne Homfeld, Lauden Wheeler, Cody Mason, and LJ Williams (played football at Missouri Western University)
Husker Head Coach was Steve Cook, assistants were Coach Alberti, Forsee, Bennett, Stickel, Fortner and Loges.
1991 Lady Husker Girls Track & Field Team
This team finished in 2nd place at State, narrowly missing 1st place by 2 points
2nd Place MRVC finish
3 state qualifiers/State Champions - LaJan Johnson, (100M State Champion & qualified in the 200M placing 2nd) Kim Goforth, (Hurdles, - State Champion & Long Jump qualifier) and Stephanie Thompson (state champ high jump)

Defeated Slater in districts, Holden in sectionals, and the state ranked Lathrop Mules in the state quarterfinals

Derek Gillilan - Athlete
2007 Graduate
Tennis - 3 time state qualifier - highest finish was 6th Place at State in Singles. Also went to state in that run in Doubles (with doubles partner Beau Linebach)
Holds the record for having the most singles victories in school history at 94 wins. (94-17 overall)
Record holder most singles wins in a season at 34
Led the Huskers to 4 straight MRVC Championships (in a streak of 19 consecutive titles)
2 year Letterman in Basketball. Starter on the Huskers 23-5 Conf. and District Championship team.
Derek was also one of the top baseball players in his grade, before deciding to play tennis in high school.
Derek went onto play college tennis at Missouri Valley College in Marshall. Derek played in the top 6 for four years there on several strong teams for the Vikings.
