HUSKER HALL OF FAME
OCTOBER 2015:
Ronnie Sanders - Enters the Hall of Fame as a Football Player. His 1951 team went 8-1-1, MRVC champs. Along with his defensive mates they held opponents to a smothering 5 points per game. Would later set out for William Jewel to play Football. He has served the business, church, and school communities along with raising 3 children in Higginsville.
Frank Swarzer - Enters the Hall of Fame as a Football Player and a Basketball player. Frank was named as a Sporting News All America Honorable Mention In Football. He was MRVC All Conference, All District, and 2nd Team All State. He was on the 1961 Football team that went 9-0. In 1962 he was on the 23-3 basketball team. The first Final Four team. He was MRVC 1st team. He then played one year of football at MU. After transferring he later played basketball 2 years at Moberly Junior College before eventually playing at Midwestern University of Texas.
Brendan Fox - Enters as a Wrestler. Brendan was a 1999 graduate of C-1. He was a 4 time Missouri State Champion, the only Husker to accomplish this feat. Over his high school career he amassed a record of 140-7. He was 4 time Academic All State as well. He was named state wrestler of the year in 1999 and named a 1st Team USA Wrestling All American. Brendan then received a Division 1 scholarship to wrestle for StanfordUniversity. In 2001 he took 4th place at the California Open for the Cardinal.
Team Induction:
1973-74 Basketball team. This was the 2nd of 4 Husker final four teams. The team battled key injuries all year going into districts with an 11-12 record before ousting favorites St. Pius X, and St. Joseph LeBlond on the way to state. They lost by a mere 7 and 9 points at state.
OCTOBER 2014:
The 2nd annual Husker Hall of Fame inductees (primary sport listed): Pete Beck; Football player, HS coach at Chico HS in California, college player at CMSU. Sidney Benton; Basketball player. Played on 2 Elite Eight teams, played college basketball at JCCC and later at U Tenn. Martin. Also played a year of D1 football there. Career stats leader in many basketball categories. Christina Elmore (all sports entrant) Played and excelled at Volleyball, Basketball and Track. Played college volleyball at CMSU. Was on only final 4 HS basketball team for the lady huskers (1990). Mike Haggerty; HS State champion, college wrestler and MIAA champion, coaches at Blue Springs. Don Mais; all sports athlete. Quarterback on 9-0 1959 team. Received scholarship offer from Missouri. State champ 180 yard Hurdles. Played basketball and was a 3 year letterman. Dick Meinershagen; Football. Played at Missouri University. Donated land for the Higg. Country Club golf course. Gill Rector; Football. Played at Tyler TX JC. Later at CMSU. Head coach later at Lexington, winning 5 state championships for the Minutemen. Bill Wiley; Basketball. first Husker to receive All State honors. Received scholarship offer to K-State for football. TEAMS INDUCTED: 1953 Football; 7-0-2. Coached by Cliff Cromer. 1958 Football; Finished 9-0. Coach Cliff Cromer. 1963 Basketball; First final four team. 26-4 MRVC Champs.

The 1st ever Husker Hall of Fame has been announced: The inaugural class will be introduced before the homecoming game Friday night and then honored with a reception on Saturday afternoon. Members of the first class are: George Seals, football player, played college ball at MU and played in the NFL. Darold Jenkins, football player, played college ball at MU. Bucky Wegener, football player who also played for MU, and played professional football in the AFL. John Houston, football player. Sam Duncan, coach/teacher. Cliff Cromer, football coach. Jim Perrine, basketball coach. Art teacher Jerry Swingle, & art student Emery Crain, originators of the Husker Harold mascot. Boys Basketball team, 1962, this team captured the 1st MRVC title in school history. 1990 Girls basketball. Only girls team to reach the State Final Four. 1961 Football team, last football team to go undefeated.
